.NET Native was experimental in WP 8.1 and W8. On 10, it becomes mandatory and you couldn't even publish a JIT .NET app to Store.
WP 8.0 didn't even had WinRT, only Silverlight apps, and all JIT. If you wanted native in 8.0, had to go with C++.
About Desktop, C++ was rarely used. Most apps were either .NET C# (JIT) or WinJS. JIT WinRT .NET was super slow, WinJS apps were even faster, which is why many apps were all WinJS, including inbox Windows apps, like the MSN apps.

Windows 8 Inbox apps a lot of them where WinJS actually. But on Windows 8 even web tech was fine (speed-wise).
And WP 8.0 < didn't offer AOT for .NET apps. AoT only came as experimental on WP 8.1 with WinRT apps if I recall right. And on W10 and W10 Mobile, it comes as default for all UWP .NET apps.

WinUI made sense when windows actually had a proper design guideline, and touch was also the focus. So using WinUI was just easier as the controls were all following the guidelines, and if you wanted to offer a native experience, that was the best choice.
But it's been long gone that time where Windows had a minimum cohesive guideline.

If I recall right, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 7/8 during the 2010's were all developed on low end devices.
Both had huge issues UX wise, specially desktop, but performance and stability was never a issue.
Developers should always test their system on the minimum system requirement that they allow the system to be installed...
I remember I complained about WinUI performance years ago, and they told me at the time that "performance" was not the focus...

Obviously there's several other ways to send money. I'm talking about the popular ones... The others are niche-systems.
And yes, in TED only the final settlement were done by BCB.

Because TED is not the only way to send money now...? It's basically legacy, although yes, still used.
Very rare you'll see Person to person/business using TED. Basically business to person...
And yes, literally banks had to "talk" with each other. Which is why it was paid and slower in first place and didn't worked 24/7.

It was not. TED had to talk with banks, only the final settlement went thought Central Bank.
With Pix, banks don't talk with each other. They are basically using Central Bank API to send and receive money.
before it was Bank Z ---> Bank Y
With Pix it's Bank X ---> SPI/BC ---> Bank B

It was not Pix being down, though. This is about banks using US cloud providers. The issue here was with private banks even.
As far I remember, Banco do Brasil and Caixa - both public banks, didn't went down, because they use Brazilian owned servers...

Several backs had a good amount of TED limit. Although everything changed when Nubank launched, giving unlimited TEDs to everyone. Most banks followed at the time, so basically around 2015~ several big banks had unlimited TEDs.
The problem with TED it's just how hard it was to send money.
You had to insert, if I recall right:
- Person full name
- Social security number
- Select the Bank Name
- The type of account (savings or checking account)
- Agency and account number
This basically means that TED was used as a serious payment thing, like money you receive from your company, etc.
A lot of companies still use TED.

There's Pix contactless payment. Both Samsung and Google wallet support. Samsung added a few weeks ago. Google added 1 or 2 years ago.
You can actually pay QR Code Pix now with Samsung by just opening the camera too.
Apple refuses to implement Pix on Apple Pay, and regulatory agencies are trying to change that...
Pix integration with Google Pay it's just amazing.
Imagine the situation in the US as if every app or website magically used Google Pay.
Well, that's Brazil now if you use Android. Because as soon as you copy a Pix code, it will prompt Google Pay :) And every service in Brazil have Pix... Even international ones as Stripe supports...

Here in Brazil I think TCL is almost surpassing Samsung in TV sales. In Argentina it's already the leader.
They sell Mini LED TVs, etc, way cheaper than Samsung ones... It's just better quality for the price. And entry level Samsung ones are cheaper quality. Samsung TU8000 in Brazil has factory issue, and they always refused to do recall.
Although in a few sectors like washing machine, I think they are growing here.
ACs they were one of the biggest for sure, with good pricing, but now, again, there's hisense, TCL, all cheaper...
