It’s not like those scientific definitions are particularly consistent or stable, though. In a large part it’s still a matter of convention when it comes to non human species as well

> it's around a hundred thousand years.
So not that far away since modern humans began splitting up into separate subgroups outside of Africa? Of course there have been quite a bit of intermixing since then (more so in Eurasia than the more isolated parts of the world before the modern times, though)

Well humans and chimpanzees share almost 99% of their DNA despite being quite distant relative so that number is somewhat deceptive. Not disagreeing with the overall point of course

> So was Kimmel engaged in defamation?
Not anymore than you are now? There is a reasonably clear precedent established on what is defamation and what is not.
> it's a very important concept in a free society.
That repeating something all the time regardless of whether it makes sense or not somehow makes it true? Well.. you are free to hold that opinion.

Well school shootings are a trend too. The guy who was murdered openly and explicitly supported doing absolutely nothing about it (and gun violence in general).
Regardless of this specific case the “right” ignores, supports or even encourages political violence on a much bigger scale than anyone else.
So why is it only a problem in some specific cases but not in general?

I know time flies by.. but 2016 was almost 10 years ago.
Also, lets ignore the fact that there is a difference between consumers boycotting something and a government agency outright threatening a private company.

> next to someone who thinks that it's ok to commit acts of violence against others just because we don't share the same views.
But that still only includes a subset of views?
I mean what you are saying is right. But these people were perfectly fine with ignoring or sometimes outright endorsing political violence until one of their own was the target. That does not seem extremely hypocritical?

> Heck, in the US, most of the places aren't even paying their staff a decent wage.
Getting > 20% of the total revenue in a restaurant seems like a pretty good deal though. I doubt most servers would prefer getting the 2-3x Federal minimum wage and no tips.
And in some states like CA, WA, NYC it’s a (relatively) very well paid job.

> Trust like in Switzerland is a very rare thing in most countries
I’m in an Eastern European country and have the same machines in some supermarkets, no scales, no gates just scan the stuff and go.
That would’ve been unimaginable 15-30 years ago. Theft and violent crime rates were sky high. Having your home broken into or even getting mugged in broad daylight wasn’t that special (these days you have a high chance of getting a story in a national newspaper at least if you get mugged).
Of course it’s far from perfect and there are other issues that need to be solved. However under the right circumstances significant change is possible even during relatively short timeframes.
