In case someone out there is looking, here's an untested recipe to lock your android in greyscale mode. It removes the menu option for changing out of greyscale (untested).
Set grayscale:
adb shell settings put secure accessibility_display_daltonizer 0
adb shell settings put secure accessibility_display_daltonizer_enabled 1
Also clear any shortcut that could toggle it:
adb shell settings put secure accessibility_shortcut_target_service ""
adb shell settings put secure accessibility_button_targets ""
Disable the menu that could undo it:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.settings/.Settings\$AccessibilitySettingsActivity
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.settings/.Settings\$ColorAndMotionActivity
Will report back if I try it.

I'm glad I saw this post because I've been trying to find the tobiphone thing for ages. I remember seeing it in HN, but then I lost the page I couldn't remember what it was called, and it was oddly difficult to google (at least at the time).
One thing I've been thinking is that maybe a way to permanently lock my phone in greyscale mode would be sufficient to cure my phone addiction.
Gonna see if Claude has any solutions for me.

I've been daydreaming about this for years.
How did you get into building polebarns? And then framing houses? Who did you convince to take you on? Did you have prior experience?

I've been thinking similarly. I'm not a particularly smart nor informed person, but here are some things I'm thinking of investing in:
- Land near a water source
- Learning how to cultivate land and food
- Learning how to be a good neighbor

It would be cool of creators such as Jim could start hosting their vids on Peertube or something similar. They could still post on Youtube--just also link to the other option for an ad-free experience.
Hopefully Goog won't bring down the hammer on cross-posting videos!!

I don't think you're wrong. There will certainly be some sort of correction of the bullish remote-work spirit.
But the 2020 lockdowns will fundamentally increase the amount of remote work permanently to at least some degree.
Like how before Bernie Sanders ran for president, no one in mainstream US politics was even talking about socialized healthcare. Or how before Andrew Yang, no one outside of silicon valley had ever heard of UBI.
This is hyperbole, but you see what I mean.

What you're describing is a common way of using feature flags—except the percentage part comes from how you manage the servers running the binary with config. I.e. on day one, 5% of servers in cluster get True for the flag value. The double the percentage every day until 100% or otherwise rollback if it's a bad cut.

Sincere question: is this true in the SF Bay and/or California? $21/hr might not make sense in Cincinnati (edit: Cincinnati is just an example)--local context is important.

Lol. At my job, I code in several different languages. Sometimes, a new project requires me to to learn to write in a new language. It's not a big deal... Programming is pretty general, so new syntax doesn't slow me down too much.
But I can't tell you what the sleep command is any of these languages. I look it up every single time :P
