I mean that's cool but what value does it bring? What problem does it solve? I can't think of a single practical use for this metadata. You, as the photographer already know where the photo was taken because that's why you took it; to remember. Anyone else doesn't care for anything more that the folder name saying "Croatia, 2018".

What's the point of GPS on a camera? You don't remember where you took your photos? I'm genuinely interested in the use case of this.

There are none because it's a stupid idea. The last thing I need in a digital camera is apps, ads and google uploading my every snap to cloud for analysis. Cameras also need to be fast and reliable which is not something that describes Android well.

Those lenses are smaller at the cost of image quality. In photography you can't have a cake and eat it too.

All corporations are evil because their main goal and arguably the only reason to exist is to make profit and that by itself is incompatible with the concept of ethics. All large organizations also dilute responsibility since it's not possible for a single person or even a small group of people to be fully involved in all parts of the process. This results in "I don't care I'm only maintaining a CI/CD pipeline" or "This does not affect me I'm only working in marketing" and people that make the decisions are usually sociopaths because that's the only kind of a person that can make it all the way to the top in a corporation.

This is very different on PC since Valve does not have the same iron grip on the platform that Sony has. If Steam becomes evil and tries to take my games away I'll just download a pirated copy instead. I purchase my games for convenience and to give some money to the creators. I don't need to purchase games to play them. I also can back up my Steam game files and use a crack on them if necessary.

A psychiatrist told me that people with ADHD perform better under extreme pressure and chaos. No idea if that's true. Personally I don't even think of ADHD as a deficiency. It's just a trait that is not compatible with modern society and workplace.

Weird that your comment got "downvoted". It's perfectly reasonable and pretty informative with the exception of converting old JPEGs to new format automatically. Seems like a huge waste of resources to shed a few KBs off an already ultra compressed file. I wonder if mirrorless cameras will get native support for this format.

This new technology more powerful than the internet can't answer the simplest questions straight. If this is the future then I don't want it. LLMs are pretty great at generating code and recognizing patterns and that's about it.

When building your own you can get:

- 2x the GPU for about the same price.

- Same power usage while in sleep.

- HDMI CEC with a dongle.

- Wake up from sleep with controller if using official Steam Controller.

- Cool and quiet operation. You can actually beat Steam Machine at noise levels under load.

- Upgradability.

- Standard parts that are easy to service and replace.

What you can't get with a custom PC is:

- Comparable size.

- Comparable support (software/firmware fixes and good warranty/service).

- Cool led strip unless you're into electronics and can make your own from scratch.

I build and/or service all of my PCs, servers and laptops. I never had a single component die on me. I still have my first 128GB Samsung SSD serving as a boot drive in my NAS. Sometimes I buy used parts. Sometimes I sell used parts. I never had any problems with DOA parts no matter if new or used. I'm always careful with static electricity (no sweaters, carpets, cats etc near components). Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe some people are not careful enough with sensitive electronics.

So does a PC.

Steam Machine can't be upgraded.

Once SM becomes too slow for gaming it will become mostly useless as it lacks necessary ports to be repurposed into a reasonable home server. I always reuse my old PC parts as home server upgrades.

Steam Machine uses a proprietary fan that will be annoying or even impossible to replace 5 years from now.
