No, the solution usually creates a caste of citizens unaware that they would not even exist without it,vehemently protesting against the solutions because of sideeffects.

Take the imperialism of old: people did not do this because beeing evil is fun. They did this because beeing exponential in a linear world produces conflict anyway and to dim the lights elsewhere allowed you to keep the civilizations lights on in the heartland longer.

People fought wars for fertilizer. Now you have hippies protesting against fertilizer made with harber bosch, who would kill each other as some north korean stunted growth dwarfs in imperial wars if they would get their wish.

They are annoying one dimensional stereovtypes of ideologic representations more interested in preaching through cliched interactions , then in beeing believable characters. They have no rea agency, no believable human interests, they behave illogical to drive the plot. Any sane human beeing would have fled the solar system and joined the other (bio)logical beeings waging war on the matroshkas.

When they started to say you cant do that. Gatekeeping the platform by either having a deep skill dependency tree or cooperate gatekeeping and lock down. The first one is more annoying as the "professionalization" kills the creative spark in many OS projects.

I think in a way we have seen a take off, by detaching the hype bubble from success metrics. Companies making products being bought by companies making products, that are hyped by machines, bought bymachines and evaluated for viability by machines. If economy is to hack the API of VC this has taken off! For now.

not an easy to read book. recommend singularity sky by the same author which is way catchier vibrant and not "enriched" with "modern" chatarcters by some sociology student editor who never grasped what scifi was all about.

Middle eastern countries forbid there citizens from studying in the uk out of fear of radicalisation. The uk is really adrift especially as the elites ignore the anti immigration wishes of the population that already led to the first brexit.
