I'm guessing the religious people at your neighborhood churches feel pretty strongly about the value of truth. How do they make that work with support for trump? I'm not trying to do a gotcha, I seriously can't see past the dissonance.

Mueller correctly stated there was an orchestrated disinformation campaign by Russia. That's different than Russians under voting tables stuffing ballots in their pockets. some like to conflate the two so that they can call it all the 'russia hoax'

"Loss of privilege feels like oppression". I see the numbers showing hiring shifts, but i don't see any numbers backing up the claim that there was once an pure and fair "American meritocracy" that has now been "gutted". and this [1] seems to show that the privilege has not actually been lost

maybe i'm doing a No True Scotsman, but i can't see where the Left has ever been against the poors. I thought the the origin of the terms Left and Right was For Democracy (the poors have a voice), and For the King (the wealthies) from the French Revolution. How is 'wealthies vs poors' different from left vs right'?

I think police may not mind Waze, they may care more about drivers that are truly dangerous and are fine with filtering out hose that are signalling that they are paying attention and showing respect by slowing down when police are present

I was trying to make a purchase from a local vendor that uses SumUp for credit card processing. The vendor told me SumUp wanted verification via a 'Receipt of Goods and Services' pdf form, that I would fill out, and email or text back to the vendor, and the vendor would email or text it back to SumUp. The form required that I enter my complete credit card information, including expiration and CVV - to be sent in plaintext via email and/or sms text. The vendor is a non-tech savvy friend, so I called SumUp to inquire, and they thought it was all fine. I found another way to pay my friend. AITA?

cobol is trivial to learn. the problem is that the core of old systems were written even before 'Structured Programming' and anything like reviewing and enforcing design standards. there is alot of 60 year old, currently running 'mission critical' cobol, some of it is inscrutable and unmaintainable, while some of it is so simple and elegant that it'd be a great way to teach a 10 year old about programming.

sorry for late comment, but the problem is clearer to me when considering it as resource control, rather than 'wealth'. Earning $60k gives you control of barely nothing. It would take 10's of millions of dollars just to have any effect on a small US city. It's a football field with 9995 people stuffed in an endzone and 5 people controlling the rest of the field.
