This isn't true it's more like a modern Rasbperry Pi 5 level system with half single core performance and relatively similar multicore.

The exciting thing about the system isn't the chip it's the connectivity, form factor and extra hardware around it. But let's not pretend it's comparable to the power of phones and laptops which are way ahead.

Although with inflation and supply chain issues I'd be shocked if this ships under $450, but if they pull it off I think you'll get your moneys worth compared to comparable Pi setup.

It was amazing at a silicon, screen, camera level but I'd argue the rest of the product was actually insanely poor hardware design.

I understand it was originally meant to be lightweight see through glasses and in the end they went down a slippery slope and made a VR headset but what they shipped showed a fundamental misunderstanding about head mounted computing.

If someone is expected to wear something on their head you have to be maximizing for lightness and comfort, deciding to make it out of metal and glass and defaulting without a top strap is actually baffling. Heavy things on your head really tire you out while using them, the more tiring it is the more effort it feels to go back into it, ultimately engagement rapidly falls off.

Think it really demonstrates a lack of management of the design team vs the actual product vision. The design team were getting their kicks playing with curved glass for what didn't end up even being a viewport out to the world just a weird virtual eye screen adding all that glass weight in the worst possible place essentially for vanity purposes once it became a VR headset not an AR headset. Really seems the design team didn't actually use the product that much during development or someone would have corrected this, but I know that product designers get a kick out of adding something like curved glass.

For a professional tool it’s getting egregious how little respect they have for my workflows and flow state they way they keep moving, changing iconography and flipping switches of the UI.

It’s clearly being ran by someone who comes from a social app or sales app growth hacking background.

I won't debate that it turns out none of this mattered when it came to being as successful company though and kinda makes anyone who tried to roll their own instead of fork look a little silly.

Like an experienced digital artist would.

It’s almost as if creativity is connected to emotions, ideology and experience or something.

Huge percentage of AI spend is on this with the gamble people won’t care if it’s less humane they’ll consume it anyway.

Because where they are in their career at that point isn't the endgame and being the person that does the deal and throws the money around is how you get the board position where you broker those deals with governments, the NGO think tank position, essentially all the actually high paying roles.

It’s people being paid off and it’s obvious.
