I’m working on a pretty cool private equity platform at Pactio.
It’s probably the most complicated product I've ever worked on. The team is incredible & I’m lucky to be surrounded by incredibly talented people. Our head of engineering is a fantastic person too, so it makes working here so easy!
In my spare time I’m working on an AI assistant. I thought I would try sell it first, but given the ramp uptake I’ll probably open source it.

Very cool.
I once did something similar using sockets and Cloudflare's Durable Objects. I had my current playing song, workout minutes and git commit count.
It was a bit unreliable when I switched to Apple Music so it's gone away for now.
This has inspired me to make it again.

I’m getting extremely annoyed that I have to keep paying ~30% more than other platforms for iOS subscriptions.
I’ve already bought the device. I’m already paying for iCloud. How much money does this business really need to squeeze from me?
If I could download and install apps directly from their makers, I would. Just like I can on my Mac.
We shouldn’t let this business model continue.

Am I right in thinking Delta could have chosen when the update was distributed to its infrastructure?
In my mind, a quick test run of the update on a VM before letting it roll out globally would have revealed the BSOD boot loop.

Code-sharing is a headache for customers. Trying to find your flight on a rotating screen is frustrating, and having a different flight number on your ticket compared to the actual flight is just confusing. We should do away with code-share numbers and use the operating airline’s flight number instead.

I can CC it on emails to handle the back & forward of booking meetings - quite handy when I need to organise with a group of people.
It can also send follow-ups at set times on my behalf or handle some vague inbounds. It's not the best, but it's ok.

I've made an email-based AI personal assistant I thought I'd roll into a business, but ultimately have kept it for personal use. I may open source this as it's a fun project built entirely on Cloudflare Workers (with the exception of one Postgres DB & mail routing).
I've written some really crappy Notion API (before the official API) to act as a CMS for a headless site.
I'm at a weird point in my life that I need to work on these little hacky projects because they bring me genuine joy. It's like lego to me.

Did you use DNS over HTTPS (DoH)? I love how easy it is to perform DNS lookups in web apps too through this.

 curl -H "accept: application/dns-json" "https://cloudflare-dns.com/dns-query?name=ycombinator.com&type=A"

Exactly this. Apple devices in fact use a domain https://captive.apple.com/ to detect when to redirect to a captive portal which will grant the user access to the internet. HTTPS isn't used here because the captive experience is to re-write all DNS lookups to a local IP to serve the captive experience.
This experience would just redirect the user to a site they've never been to before, say: wa-man-likes-your-data.com. This could have a legitimate signed cert from anywhere and look legitimate to the device with a lock icon. Put the airline's logo and a form for PII, wait a couple of hours and you've collected a plane load of data.
I used to think about doing something similar but as an education campaign. Similar to Phishing Simulators at large corporates, I had the idea to display a captive page that explained what the user did and how they can learn to avoid it in future.
Apple & Google should really make it clearer on phones that users are joining untrusted networks, especially any network not implementing Wi-Fi Certified Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0).
