I've worked on these kinds of systems, but not this one explicitly. There is always a discussion about how to make it(legally) more difficult for users to do something you don't want them to do. It's not paranoia, it's reality.

I work on this technology(not for Samsung), they do not upload the screenshots. They upload a cryptographic hash of the image and match it to known content. Also, this is true of nearly every smart TV available for purchase and quickly being integrated into projectors. If you want to turn off the functionality, you will have to go through the feature sets of the devices.

what kind of animal listens to music in a random order?!? I have trouble finding a player that organizes by album. I just want to play to a sorted list of albums in order. No player does this.

I'm an Oakland resident and I had already emailed Mayor Quan as well as my city council member about this very subject, but received no response. The police officers with the exception of when they were called upon to don riot gear have been very pleasant. They have been generally keeping to themselves and helpful to anyone who asked(as far as I saw).
While I'm generally not a fan of LEOs, it is clear that problems being caused here, now are being caused by the city administration.
