CSV is so deceptively simple that people don't care understanding it. I wasted countless hours working around services providing non-escaped data that off the shelf parsers could not parse.

I think there was no realtime CC processing back then. In my last job I found artefacts like fax forms where they would write down collected credit card data (from online subscriptions) to be sent to their processor. To have at least _some_ safety they would just check [1] if the CC number is sound.
[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luhn_algorithm

I'm on the fence about XR and I for sure won't buy a "Pro" grade device. But regarding your point about reality shaping: Sometimes it's just obvious. When I saw the presentation for the iPhone, I know this was the first phone I really really wanted - everything about it was compelling. I guess this what some XR enthusiasts feel about this device.

Germany really takes the price when it comes to (torrent-based) piracy. The lawyers around it created a nice little ecosystem for themselves. Honeypot torrents and all. They have such a nice system that they don't go for the torrent sites, just milk the torrenters.

I used to think like this about marketing in general. "Build it and they will come" was the usual motto in my formative years. But isn't it a shame to build a great product and then not have people engage with it, just because I frown upon marketing?

Seems like this game engine is built on top of RubyMotion which compiles to byte code - no (slow) Ruby VM. This probably also allows them to bundle the game for many platforms.
For hobbyists Gosu (https://www.libgosu.org/ruby.html) should be good enough, but is not very convenient to bundle and distribute.
