> Israel broke the ceasefire
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Israel didn't sign any ceasefire. The ceasefire was between Iran and US. Israel separately announced (not part of any deal) that it would stop attacking Iran. It honored that self-imposed limit. Israel attacked Lebanon (Iran's proxy).

> You know, like CNN exaggerates how terrible iran is.
Do you not know it's a theocracy where women have to hide their faces, the punishment for BEING raped is death, and any dissent is illegal (gets you executed under the charge of "waging war against Allah").
I don't watch leftist news, but I'm pretty sure not even CNN gives Iran a free pass. You usually have to turn to new media like Hassan Abi for that.

Depends on how you use it. If you say "reword this to sound <whatever your goal is>" then it does suck. But if you say "This is what I wrote. My intention is so-and-so. The audience is <audience>... Please mention and add suggestions for how to fix typos, poor wording, unclear expression, etc.
Then you get back what it thinks is wrong and you're in charge of editing in its suggestions. If you let it edit for you you're more likely to just create slop.
---
Here's an example. My actual text is:
> I want to make it clear that I'm not hunting for things to be angry at, these are issues I've encountered in actual codebases.
If go through the route of prompting it to re-write, it changes it to:
> I’m not looking for things to be angry about—these are issues I’ve encountered in real codebases.
The em dash is a clear give away that it's AI, but it's also soulless.
If I ask it to tell me what's possibly wrong about it I get that there's a comma splice (never knew the term, I'm not a native speaker) and "about" is better than "at". So I do a minor change:
> I want to make it clear that I'm not hunting for things to be angry about. These are issues I've encountered in actual codebases.

> They attacked Iran not the other way round.
This whole war is a continuation of the Oct 7 attack on Israel by Iran's proxies. It's been revealed recently that Israel took the decision to assassinate the leader of Iran soon after Oct 7 in retaliation. It just took a few years to find the opportunity to do so.

> what if the code you write or autonomous machine you contribute to used for killing?
This line of thinking, that creating machines that kill is unethical, will destroy the West. If the US wasn't so good at producing killing machines in WW2, you wouldn't be here to complain about DARPA ethics.
Instead of having engineers develop the most advanced machines for killing (i.e. protecting the West) such people go into producing the most addictive content delivery systems, destroying the brains of minors.

> It is incredible how far the overton window has moved on this issue.
> When I graduated in 2007, it was common for tech companies to refuse to let their systems be used for war,
In 2007 the US was the sole world hegemon. It could afford to let the smartest people work on ad delivery systems.
In 2026, in certain fields, China has a stronger economy and military. Russia is taking over Europe. India and Brazil are going their own way. China is economically colonizing Africa.
The US can't afford to let it's enemies develop strong AI weapons first because of the naive thinking that Russia/China/others will also have naive thinkers that will demand the same.
---
People were just as naive with respect to Ukraine. They were saying that mines and depleted uranium shells are evil. But when Russia attacked, many changed their minds because they realized you can't kill Russians with grandstanding on noble principle. You kill them with mines and depleted uranium shells.
Hopefully people here will change their minds before a hot war. As the saying goes, America always picks the right solution after trying all the wrong ones.

Now is the help.
---
Trump also said that when he says things he means them, unlike Obama's red lines in Syria (his words). When he said that, it was pretty clear he couldn't back off of attacking Iran.
I assume it took so long because he's going for regime change, not just a few bombings. When Iraq invaded Kuwait, it took the US 5 months to launch a counter-invasion (mostly because of coalition building).
