I still hope a future FFmpeg release will make Intel QSV encoding available on Windows laptops where the manufacturer disabled this capability from the ACPI tables. The only way to use it on these laptops is currently FFmpeg on Linux.

Hey I just came up with this idea, I'm going to feed copyrighted books into my LLM that remembers them verbatim, and then people pay me to ask the LLM for complete copies of a book.

Wait, no, not verbatim. It transforms upper case into lower case and vice versa.

Since the half of the app that is running on my local X or Wayland can only display a GUI and doesn't need QtNetwork, QtWebkit, Gtk Webview etc, what lightweight UI toolkit other than html+js do you recommend ?

Being able to initiate a shell app from a regular remote ssh CLI prompt (like "ApacheConfig myhost.com" or "Editor ~/myrepo") might improve integration with people's existing CLI workflows.

It does need an agent that starts with every X or Wayland session and waits for requests from remote SSH sessions to start an app.

Linux will still be viable when systemd is gone. There will always be a need for open software.

I hope sites that just provide a way for people to assemble offline will be the new thing soon.

A photography guide's site that rallies amateurs for walk tours. A planning board for a foreign language practice group. A site with a schedule and registration form for a sports event.

When I read "online social" my head thinks "not-really social".

It sounds like the "app written in C++ calling Lua scripts, versus app written in Lua calling C++ libraries" debate.

Both designs (Lightroom, game engines) have worked successfully.

There's probably nothing that prevents mixing both approaches in the same "app".
