“ because you want people to personally suffer”
I never said I want people to suffer. I think your position is stupid because it will cause suffering through layoffs.
Very rarely has government intervention worked recently. But I guess you think these workers are stupid too and can’t take care of themselves.
Just get off their backs, I promise you they can handle without your performative outrage.
“ Society is allowed to improve the life work workers while working”
This is not society doing anything. This is literally a politician that is advocating for government intervention in the economy.

One thing I wonder is how will this politician work an after hours meeting with the citizens.
Will she not show up or will she tell her constituents that THEY need to do the meeting at HER working hours?

Not sure why this is a thing.
As an extreme example, if Elon got fired from Tesla, I am sure he would be ok. He manages his money well and I am sure he does not think his job at Tesla is some king of God-given lifetime human right. If you are making $250k, a company is not expecting to be your baby sitter. You are a grown man or woman.
An employee needs to manage their economic life without depending on some company to make financial decisions for them. Getting laid off is simply part of life.
If you don’t want to be laid off, you can always start your own company and hire all these people, with your own money of course.

Well, millions of people risk their lives to come to the USA. There is a reason for that. While many come to be takers and abuse the system, many come because of the freedom to take care of your own destiny without expecting someone else to take care of their lives.

News is a business. The mainstream media has made tons of money fabricating conflict or drama (see increase in use of “white supremacy” or “racism” in news). This has created mental angst in Democrats.
Thankfully the recent soccer World Cup is showing the world that America is the greatest country on earth. At least the foreigners will learn the truth (the democrats? That’s another story of perpetual self depression).

Sometimes crimes are created by governments to control behavior or punish those that opposed their preferred views. Think about those ideas about criminalizing not calling someone by their pronouns, for example.
But yours is a ridiculous conclusion that prison does not stop crimes. Of course sending you to the slammer STOPS the crimes you were going to commit.
Also, we don’t have to send criminals to the slammer. We can send them to live with you and your family, but something tells me your performative statements stop short of allowing that. And that is the issue, some people like you want “society at large” to bear the cost of crime, but don’t want to bear the cost themselves. This has to tell you everything you need to know. It’s basically suicidal empathy. I could ask you to ask Pava Lapere how that worked out, but she is dead.

Mental health is a problem in the US and not properly addressed. Some people find an outlet in writing a blog. Almost anything that helps is good in my opinion, outside of violence.
There are also a bunch of whiny people who can’t handle life or go ballistic if their “wrong” president is elected or society does not agree with their little pet opinion of how the world should be. Unfortunately HackerNews is full of this second category. That’s why it is trending here.
It’s difficult to know which category this one is, but since the first category can lead to really bad outcomes, it’s best to assume good intentions and I won’t judge. Unfortunately, statistically speaking ONLY, this could be the second category.
