we have a idiom/joke to describe this: "美中不足" ( which origins means a flaw within beauty). but 美 also means America 中 also means China and 不 = no/not 足=foot/soccer..so Neither country is very good at football (soccer). of course china sucks more on this

I don't think he is a communist, he just believe in people like Mao and he's party.
The other thing is,as a Chinese person, apart from a very small minority who are receptive to Western propaganda and hold anti-Han/chinese/china sentiments, the vast majority will eventually embrace their strong sense of nationalism.
This also applies to Chen-Ning Yang.

It sounds convincing because almost everything in the article is technically correct. But this mindset is problematic.
AI is not some divine creation. It is built by humans. History has repeatedly shown that China is able to catch up, and often surpass others in the end.
The article never really explains why AI is supposedly so unique that it guarantees the United States will inevitably win.

somehow i canot open the link. but in their chinese version's release article, in the end ,there is a quote from xunzi(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xunzi_(philosopher))
"Not seduced by praise, not terrified by slander; following the Way in one's conduct, and rectifying oneself with dignity." (不诱于誉，不恐于诽，率道而行，端然正己)
(It is mainly used to express the way a Confucian gentleman conducts himself in the world. It reminds me of an interview I once watched with an American politician, who said that, at its core, China is still governed through a Confucian meritocratic elite system. It seems some things have never really changed.
In some respects, Liang Wenfeng can be compared to Linux. The political parallel here is that the advantages of rational authoritarianism are often overlooked because of the constraints imposed by modern democratic systems.

there is a huge push in china and (tencent). but the main purpose is for the token market, to bring more users as a consumer of tokens. but i dont see any useful outcome from this yet.
tencent is anxiety about it's progress about AI, as Alibaba and ByteDance is iterated much faster. so before it has strcit rules for QQ/Wechat( has 1 billon + users) for AI bot , but now it's open to openclaw (some tencent version i guess).
but it's still a toy for most people.
