No problem, just sell their user data for a premium so they can be advertised too in other ways. Its worth squeezing this one in many extra ways since, as you said, they've signaled they are valuable targets.
Plus Meta can also change it to limited ads later and sell those for bigger money.

There was a post on here where some one mentioned a lot of people just install bike racks to block the plate and said Amazon sells lots of plate hiding stuff. I'd definitely seen plastic covers that obviously made the plate very hard to read in the wild but I'd never really thought about using different kinds of luggage racks to obscure plates.
Of course, my state used a bunch of bad paint on license plates for a number of years so you could just peel off all the paint removing any contrast from a legit plate and you'd look no different than most people's unreadable plates anyway.

> - Doctors in training usually want to work as much as possible to finish their training as fast as possible, especially if they want to work in surgery. For instance, if you train for "general surgery", you need to do about 25 appendectomies, about 35 cholecystectomies, and so on. So in a perverse way, you need a bit of "luck" that you are working while these cases come in. More time in the hospital simply increases your luck.
Sounds like a great way to incentivize tons of unnecessary surgeries as well.

It could be used to hunt down reporters and whistleblowers if the cameras have to be purchased with an ID. So the very people who would benefit might be forced to strip this extra data to protect themselves.
I wonder if you could use the camera to record deepfaked video and in effect bless a lie. Even just filming a TV set might be enough for low grade blackmail and much more complicated methods are available.

One unexpected issue with digital media is changing manufacturing quality and an inability to identify it until it is to late. Early stage floppy disks and CDs actually were pretty reliable but by the tail end so much cost saving had happened in manufacturing they'd turned to crap.
The same thing has happened with flash drives already, how do you identify a good flash drive? If you aren't careful you'll end up with a counterfeit but even the genuine articles have shaky reputations and manufacturers change the internal parts all the time.

> I personally feel safer that passkeys aren't sync'd across multiple vendors' products.
Last time I checked into these hardware attestation was part of the specification but the ability export them from a vendors platforms is not. In practice that will mean unapproved platforms can be shut out and walled gardens strengthened. Which will happen sooner or later because it can. Apple supposedly zeroes their attestation but that is only a partial mitigation and relies upon the values of a giant corporation not changing its mind for any host of business reasons. And it does nothing to stop other platforms.

My understanding is that GPT can't actually be used to port a game to sell, ostensibly it is for proving out performance possibilities available from when you do port your game (to native metal). Has that changed?
To me it sounded like there was a group within Apple that wants to create an emulation layer (and did essentially) but that leadership hates the idea and in its current state it is a compromise that it even exists at all.
