The difference this time around is quantitative tightening and increasing interest rates. If the Fed stays true to its word, then we'll remain in a bear market.
Bear market rallies are bound to keep happening as people's retirement funds get cash inflows and fund managers allocate a portion to equities.

If you can find a way to go on life support for a little while - perhaps just shut down temporarily, then it will pay off, I think.
Over the next few months to a couple of years:
- Interest rates will keep going up and Quantitative tightening will happen.
- There will be a recession.
- A lot of people who resigned greatly will be broke and in need of work.
- Your services will be needed, and in a big way.
The person who finds what they love to do is rare, but the person who finds their calling is rarer still.

This is why more seasoned traders pay attention to trading volume. It is also how many players manipulate the naive traders into thinking a stock is crashing or booming.

> I’ll bet an engineer makes a better product manager than a siloed product manager with no engineering experience.
This depends on who the product's consumers are and how mature the company is. A skilled product manager uses the expertise of engineers to build a great product. Being an ex-engineer is arguably useful in a fast-paced small team like an early stage startup but it can also turn into an annoying (to engineers) liability in an environment where product and engineering responsibilities are defined.

Certainly, I hope anyone commenting on this will take note of the publishing date being more than 100 years ago.
Who your kids end up marrying is mentioned as a big driver of caste in the article. I think that holds true today as well. All things being equal, your professor / lawyer / doctor parents probably don't want you to marry a janitor.
And, I'm pretty sure this is true everywhere.
In a highly competitve place (mostly due to population), they'll say something like, "he's from the janitor class, but thats okay, because he's a doctor" to justify marrying outside the caste.

This is different. Generally, if you buy a base model car, it is missing buttons that would be available in a higher trim. In this case, the button is clearly there - it was cheaper to leave the button there and to lock the owner out using software.

I understand that many Europeans think that racism no longer exists in Europe - and I've never been there to see for myself - we do get the occasional story of black athletes getting bananas thrown at them in Italy, something that is weird and just plain racist. A person caught doing that in America would be permanently banned from the venue.

Often the deals aren't limited to cash. There are promises of economic development, education, healthcare etc.. as well.
You might agree to give your land away to a verbal deal where promises are made, only to discover later that the detailed text contains contingencies that give your counterparty an out of one or more major promise that you had taken for granted as part of the deal.

If the olive oil is fresh enough to enjoy with a piece of toast, then the tip about olive oil is accurate.
Cooking with olive oil (at anything above low heat) and topping cooked food with olive oil produce two noticeably different tastes.
You have to cook at a really low temperature to preserve that olive oil taste, which most people don't. So, you may be better off cooking with a higher temperature oil (avocado, and coconute oils) and topping with olive oil after you're done cooking.
About salt: it makes whatever you're cooking dehydrate. This is sometimes desired early on in the cooking process, but not always.
