It's even worse than that. Scammers are sending messages through booking.com, so you get a message from the hotel, in your booking.com inbox, with a link to a payment site that just makes a payment to the crooks. The root cause is either hotel employees installing session-stealing malware, either accidentally or by being part of the scam.

I don't think that was always the case. Recently I was googling my name and I found out I have bunch of Trello boards for various student projects that I completely forgot about (think "startups" but we've never gotten anywhere with them). I was surprised to see that. I don't think we deliberately made it public.

Oh, wow, this is exactly how I dream as well. I could never have expressed this, though! Thank you for that post.
I always wonder how "real" do dreams feel for people who dream lucidly, but then I realize that it wouldn't matter for me. The level of realism, details, the feelings - are irrelevant, since it would only be a memory, at no point in time I would ever be experiencing it. It would be just a faint, happy, memory of something that didn't happen.

Sometimes, when Slack e-mails me that someone has mentioned me in a channel, and in the e-mail there is content of the message, I have a brief thought of "how do they know-... oh". I'm slowly getting used to e2e provided by various IMs, as well as encrypted at rest e-mail providers (personally I user Protonmail) - it's not something extraordinary anymore.

Crashplan worked well for me, sometimes I have to restore a file that I overwrite or that ends up being corrupted because of buggy (in-house) software and I never had any problems with that.
My main issue is that I went with free plan + my own server because transfers to their servers were really bad. But to supply your own storage, you have to install Crashplan on the server, which uses significant amount of RAM. So this rules out backuping to my NAS (not enough memory there, even though it's x86 and technically people ran Java on it).
The other issue is that file format is (AFAIK) closed, and also you an account and connection to Crashplan service, so I'm not completely sure that you really own the data. I didn't do much research here, though.

Can you elaborate how Arq is buggy? I'm considering switching to Arq from Crashplan, because I supply my own storage for it anyway.

I have an invoice generation script that outputs html, and I unfortunately have to open it in Chrome and "print to pdf" manually. If you control styling, you can usually set it to look the way you want. Also browser HTML headers/footers can be disabled.
wkhtmltopdf output never looked quite right to me.

Thank you, I've just realized how... different (to not say "awful"...) it is in US after reading more comments here.
To be honest sometimes I'm anxious when my bill ends up some number that's hard to tip from; but if I don't tip, nothing will happen.

View on Europe on HN seems to be a little skewed. We have tipping here as well, maybe not to the same extent as in US, but it's definitely present. Even sandwich or coffee places would have "tip jar" where people would drop their change when they pay cash, but it's not required or even expected. It's not like there is no concept of tipping at all.

It survives encoding with different codecs.
