There's a chance that the real reason why they want to ban Chinese models is that they are so good at fixing bugs and preventing exploits that intelligence agencies have been using for espionage and surveillance for a long time.

I don't know about Chatgpt but I used Kimi (they have a Chinese-only plugin that does desktop control - works fine if you enable it even if you don't know Chinese). Observing how it works, it's mostly using the accessibility features of the user interfaces - it fetches a sort of DOM for the desktop applications. Only rarely it has to take a screenshot.

People have heuristics. My heuristics is that AI slop in images -> slop in the text, whether AI or not.

It will be wrong sometimes, but mostly it's not. OP has a point.

I have been using Kimi for months. It did get superslow after the K3 launch, then they blocked signups and normalized the service.

It's not ideal that people can't join but as a user I am happy that they focused on serving existing customers.

The Linux kernel adopted Bitkeeper before git and it never spread out from there. It's not that many people working on the kernel.

git growth was very symbiotic with GitHub growth. I don't remember why GitHub became popular in the first place. I think it was the Ruby community? GitHub was one of their own during an explosion of Ruby on Rails and successful startups using it.

The way how you manage the caps in OpenRouter is how every metered API provider should do it: keys have limits, and you can change the limits, and you set the limits to refill periodically, and you can create as many keys as you want.

Not anymore than the US being able to strike worldwide to this very moment. They are the only country that has used nuclear bombs against civilians.

The big problem is having one country be able to do it without deterrents and with impunity. MAD is a good thing, if anyone will have those things at all.

I use Kimi at home via a kimi.com subscription and Kimi CLI (sometimes running inside Zed, sometimes not). My favorite model by far. And it's just $20.

I have to use a supposedly frontier model at work and I hate it.

Nethack runs as a setgid process that hides save files from users.

Kind of old fashioned now that almost every Unix system is a single user system. There are still public servers for those that want the temptation to be taken away from them.

As to spoilers... Everybody reads the spoilers. I doubt anyone has ever ascended spoiler-free.

First impression: it has a tutorial, which should actually help increase the player base quite a bit.

It comes with some movement quality of life (e.g. moving into a door opens it, moving into an obviously dangerous thing requires confirmation).

If you enable the option, there's color coding of health (green -> full), burden level, and states like poisoning, which I think is new too.

You can filter out messages like "you have displaced your pet".
