For example, multicore OCaml is not free of race conditions.
The GC, while super efficient (pauses are in the milliseconds), is not suitable for hard realtime.
Still, where absolute max performance or realtime are not required, I'd choose OCaml as it is elegant & a pleasure to code in (personal opinion, ymmv).

I will give it a spin on my Apple Vision Pro.
Have been trying ttyd, which could really be great as is it browser based and hence I can have as many windows as I want, but a safari bug on iOS/ipados/visionos is a showstopper: specifically, safari sends keycode 13 events (enter key) when pressing ctrl-c on a hardware keyboard. So emacs, interrupting fg processes etc are problematic.
I’ll submit a pr to xterm.js for a workaround.

Ah, I kept that BP6 for 10 years before selling it.
It meant I could write multithreaded concurrent software and run it at home with LinuxThreads (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LinuxThreads) then NPTL (native Posix threading lib).
Mine was not very stable under even moderate overclocking though!
Good times!

Partly; OCaml does not, in the general case, generate code for a function for each boxed data type it is called with, for example.
This, and the fact that the compiler does not optimize extensively, makes for fast compilation.
The code still runs fast, especially for a language with gc.

It is legitimate indeed, and a nod to its creator T. Coquand, but better avoid recurring, useless discussions so better change the name.
The funny (for some), quirky jokes get quickly old anyway.
They also renamed NIPS -> NeurIPS conference, even though the name sounds less subject to jokes.

When our oven gave up the ghost last year, I bought one with WiFi connection.
Installed it, then discovered that the smartphone app that goes with it is horrid, borderline unusable; moreover, oven programs (pizza/cake etc.) are only available on the app.
Finally, when WiFi is on, the oven cannot be operated through its front panel.
We are left to using it in the most basic way, with its capacitive touch buttons, a downgrade from the previous oven…
Also, its interior lighting is on when door closed, but shuts off when we open the door.
Who designs such things?

> Surprisingly, BEVs are _more_ visible in the country side (where many smaller models make complete sense as a "second car" for a household that needs to drop kids at school, get the groceries, etc...) than in cities. Never mind.
Not that surprising; countryside folks own houses and can charge at home for cheap, while city dwellers generally can't and have to use overpriced, inconvenient public charging.
