> See translator jobs getting wiped out. Nobody even blinked an eye, it didn't spark any discussion, no deep thoughts were had.
Whenever someone writes something like this "nobody talks about it, nobody cared" I always think that just tells you more about the media sources and community of the author (you) than anything else.
Of course people talked about it. They are still talking about it. Of course they cared. They still care. Don't be ridiculous. Go talk to some human translators in real life.
"Nobody is talking about AI". Sounds even more ridiculous when written like that.

It's hard to take criticism like this seriously when you didn't say the model you used. It's like someone complaining about a car's performance but they leave out the brand and year. If you don't think that's relevant I just can't take you seriously.

Great. For my game [1] I have long had the capacity to compile a separate commandline application using unity code [2]. This lets me do benchmarks and unit tests on the core chess AI code without the editor. However I've had to maintain a separate second unit test suite that I can only run in the editor manually if any unity specific code is involved. Naturally, it's run far less often.
This new unity cli doesn't replace that design, since it's important to me that my core chess variant AI code remains a project on its own, totally independent of unity. But it does mean lots of my utilities like my second unity test, which normally require clicking a button in the editor, can now be run without the editor. Excellent!
Making a 2d chess variant game means almost all unity editor features just get in my way.
[1] https://www.chesscraft.ca
[2] https://youtu.be/U4xBLTpZ9Xo?si=Gd2aAWKvLqBVBU66

The criticisms here remind me of a quotation that I'll paraphrase: "in silicon valley there's a million apps to order a coffee, but not one to teach you to read".
People seem to have the basic premise: why not just get an educated adult, or good teacher, or personal human tutor for the kids which is so much better?
Well there's a billion parents who cannot ever afford that...
So I'd just like to note that HN is absolutely 100% not the kind of community that you need to impress or sell to. Best of luck.

> Telling people not to be political is a political act
No. If there's a group to discuss ice cream, but they keep talking about Trump, it's not a "political act" to say "hey guys, aren't we here for ice cream?"
Otherwise every forum devolves into the loudest, most vocal slurry and loses its personality.
I'm Canadian. Let's talk about the tech, not your failing country, please. Or I'll go somewhere else for ice cream, and yall can have your millionth community to talk about the same self obsessed political topics ad nauseum.
